Vape Parts Exposed

Ultimate Vape Deals - Vape Parts Exposed

What's in a vape? It's a question worth asking as they grow more popular.

The number of adults vaping is expected to hit nearly 55 million by 2021. But it's a paradox of humanity that the more popular something becomes, the less we understand its inner workings. We take it for granted.

That's why we're exposing all your vape parts right now.

Drip Tip/Mouthpiece

Much like a woodwind instrument, the mouthpiece is the part that makes contact with the lips and allows you to "play" the vape.

The choice of mouthpiece is often an ergonomic one. Different users will prefer difference mouthpieces, so it's up to you to find the one that works for you.

Mouthpieces are also known as drip tips. Though don't be too alarmed by the name, vape designers are smart enough to make them not dribble in your pocket.

Tank and Coil/Atomizer

Here's where the real magic happens.

The tank is the part of the vape containing the e-liquid. Some vapes will feature disposable tanks, but most serious vapers will choose a vape with a tank they can swap out. Transparent tanks are available for cool factor (or to check your liquid level, anyway).

You might also hear these elements described as the "cartomizer" when combined into one component.

At the base of the tank is the coil or the atomizer. Both parts provide the same function. They heat up, causing the liquid to vaporize. So it's fair to say you wouldn't have a vape without them.

If you hear someone talking about Ohms on their coil, they're not unleashing a Buddhist mantra on you. This is how you describe the resistance of the coil. You won't have to worry too much about this for now.

E-Liquid

While not an intrinsic part of a vape, it's worth talking about the e-liquid (or "juice"). This is the stuff sloshing around in the tank, and the thing that makes vaping worth it.

E-liquids are available in a huge variety of food-grade flavors. Once heated to temperatures higher than 100 degrees C (and usually higher), the liquid vaporizes. It can then be inhaled.

Most e-liquids have a vegetable glycerin base, so don't listen to the people who make them out to be some dangerous and unknown potion.

Battery

As with many electronic things, the battery is what makes the vape "go". Nothing too mysterious here.

In vapes, the battery is usually a lithium-ion battery, as these are easy to recharge. The battery is one of the most popular targets for modders, who might upgrade to a more powerful battery for a better vape experience.

Your Vape Parts Explained

Now you know the basic anatomy of a vape and how all the vape parts fit together. Things can get a little more complicated if you're into the modding scene, but for that you'll at least need to understand the basics.
